Shivani Sood, MD received her medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she received the Joshua H. Weiner, M.D. International Health Fellowship Award. She received a master’s degree from the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University in N.Y. She completed her Internal Medicine training at Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, Rhode Island and served as a Gastroenterological postdoctoral fellow at the North Shore University Hospital, New York University School of Medicine in Manhasset, N.Y.
Dr. Sood is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Sood is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, and a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterology Association and Connecticut State Medical Society. She is also a nationally recognized expert on topics pertaining to women’s gastrointestinal health including constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr. Sood holds medical staff privileges at William W Backus Hospital. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and basic Spanish
